10:00 AM - 11:30 AM    Aug 29: Learn to Ride a Bike & Bike Skills Class at Goffle Brook Park - Hawthorne! - Aug 29: Learn to Ride Brike Event
Passaic County is proud to partner with EZ Ride to celebrate World Bicycle Day with a fun and educational event on Saturday, August 29th at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne, NJ. This family-friendly program features a 9:30 AM “Learn to Ride” session for children ages 5+ focused on building confidence through balance, pedaling, and safe bike handling, followed by an 11:00 AM Bike Safety Talk, skills course, and guided park ride for ages 5+. Participants will learn essential riding techniques, safety practices, and New Jersey traffic rules before putting their skills into action on a group ride through the scenic paths of the park. This event is a great opportunity for young riders to gain confidence, improve safety awareness, and enjoy the outdoors on two wheels.  We recommend your child wear pants and padded gloves if possible. Also - bring sunscreen and water.  10:00 AM: Learn to RideParticipants ages 5+ will learn:~Proper helmet fitting~Balancing on their bicycle~When comfortable: pedaling~Starting and stopping their bikeA parent/guardian helper is required for each child that participates. All participants must wear a helmet, mask, and bring a bike with pumped-up tires. We please ask parents to remove pedals and training wheels in advance. Parents are recommended to watch this video with their child the night before our activityhttps://youtu.be/LeUDndA8F_w11:30 AM: Bike Safety Talk, Bike Skills Course, and Park Ride: Children ages 5 and up will learn how to properly ride their bike on public streets including:~Starting, stopping, scanning, & hand signals~Turning~Proper helmet fitting~Pre-ride safety check~Bike handling~Safe riding tips.~NJ Traffic LawsAll kids will be able to participate in a fun bike course followed by a group ride around the park paths to practice what they've learned. Child must be able to ride on their own without support for this activity. All participants must wear a helmet, mask, and bring a bike with pumped-up tires.

The Passaic County recreation department has partnered with Amazing Athletes to bring to you this introductory level 8-week Multi Sports program This program introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports (soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, track and field, baseball and golf) in a non-competitive environment, where children will be able to grow physically, socially and emotionally. The children in this this program will routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and develop 6 key motor skills: Balancing, Running, Jumping, Throwing, Catching and Kicking. Note: This class is not a drop-off program.
