June 6th is National Trails Day!
The Passaic County Parks and Recreation department will be leading special themed hikes all around Passaic County to encourage new & veteran hikers to explore our Passaic County Trails this summer!
8:00AM @ Garret Mountain Reservation (Woodland Park) - Early Bird Watching with Ranger Frank
Start your day with the sights and sounds of nature on an early morning bird watching walk at Garret Mountain Reservation. Led by a knowledgeable guide, this peaceful hike will explore prime bird habitats as the park comes alive at sunrise. Learn how to identify local and migratory species by sight and sound while enjoying the quiet beauty of the morning.

10:00AM @ Rifle Camp Park (Woodland Park) - Teddy Bear Hike with Ranger Tim
Bring your favorite teddy bear along for a fun and easy hike on the trails! This lighthearted, kid-friendly adventure is perfect for young explorers to enjoy nature with their cuddly companion.
12:00PM @ Rifle Camp Park (Woodland Park) - Nature Journaling Hike with James Sisti
Slow down and connect with nature through writing and sketching along the trail. This peaceful hike invites participants to observe their surroundings and capture what they see, hear, and feel in their own creative way—no experience needed.
2:30PM - @ Mayor Dunleavy Park (Bloomingdale) - Paws on the Trail with Ranger Frank
Hit the trails with your four-legged friend on this fun, social hike for dog lovers. Leashed pups are welcome as we explore the park together and enjoy the outdoors side by side.
5:00PM @ Apshawa Preserve (West Milford) - Trail Running with Don Weise
New to trail running? This beginner-friendly session at Apshawa Preserve introduces the basics of running on natural terrain at a comfortable pace. Learn proper footing, pacing, and trail awareness while enjoying a supportive and scenic outdoor workout.
7:30PM @ Highlands Preserve (West Milford) - Sunset Hike with Ranger Scott
Take in the beauty of golden hour on a guided hike through Highlands Preserve. As the sun sets, we’ll enjoy scenic views, cooler evening air, and a peaceful end to the day on the trails.
