Summer 2026 Introduction to Horsemanship

Join us for a 6-week Introduction to Horsemanship program designed for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of working with horses in a safe and supportive environment.
Participants will begin by learning essential horsemanship skills, including horse safety, grooming, tacking (saddling and bridling), horse care, stable etiquette, and building confidence around horses. As these foundational skills are developed, participants will progress to introductory horseback riding lessons during the final weeks of the program.
This program emphasizes that safe, successful riding begins with understanding and caring for the horse first, creating a positive experience for both rider and horse.
Program Schedule:
- Youth (Ages 8–15): Mondays
- Group 1: 5:00–6:00 PM
- Group 2: 6:00–7:00 PM
- Adults (Ages 16+): Wednesdays
Please note: This program emphasizes horsemanship and horse care as the foundation for safe riding. Riding is introduced after participants demonstrate the necessary skills and confidence.
THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY OPEN FOR PASSAIC COUNTY RESIDENTS.
Location: Garret Mountain Equestrian Center - 1 Park Road, Woodland Park, NJ
FOR PASSAIC COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY
Cost: $60 due on site paid directly to the Equestrian center
CHILD MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED
Age Requirement: Participants must be the required age by the first day of the program. No exceptions will be made.
